INDIANAPOLIS (June 12, 2015) – A man was shot and killed on Indy’s east side early Friday morning.

Police responded to a disturbance call in the 3500 block of North Shadeland Ave. just before 2:15 a.m.

The shooting victim has been identified as 46-year old Joenathan Rice of Indianapolis.

When they arrived on scene, officers found a man shot in the head. He was located on a sidewalk in the back of the Rodeway Inn property.

IMPD officer Rafael Diaz said it appears the incident began with some kind of confrontation inside a hotel room. Police are hoping to talk to hotel guests to gather more information. They are also working to find out if there is any security video of the crime.

One hotel guest told FOX59 he heard one gunshot early Friday morning, then saw shadows go by his window.

“It’s scary,” said Tim Bobst, the hotel guest. “A bullet could’ve gone through my window. It was really close. And, so that’s very concerning.”

At this time the investigation is ongoing and officers do not have any suspects in custody.
