Man dies from injuries following fight at downtown Kilroy’s bar

UPDATE (January 12, 2015) – John Hilf passed away at Eskenazi Hospital on Monday; according to the coroner, his cause of death is blunt force traumatic injury due to fall sustained after being pushed during an altercation. The manner of death is pending at this time.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (January 9, 2016) – A man was critically injured in a fight at Kilroy’s Bar & Grill in downtown Indianapolis early Saturday morning.

Around 1:38 a.m. IMPD officers were dispatched to the 200 block of South Meridian Street on a report of a person injured as the result of an altercation at Kilroy’s. Upon arrival, officers located a male, later identified John Hilf, 59, of St. Louis, Missouri.

He was transported to Eskenazi Hospital by ambulance with a head injury, and he is currently listed in critical condition.

Investigators preliminarily believe an altercation began between the victim and an unknown male subject.

All parties involved in the incident were detained and questioned by investigators, and detectives spoke with witnesses and canvassed the area for information.

The specific circumstances surrounding this incident are still under investigation.

Investigators will forward their finding to the Marion County Prosecutors Office for final charging decision.

The victim is currently listed in critical condition.
