SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (March 30, 2016) – Police arrested a man Sunday after receiving a 911 call saying that he was chasing people around with a machete in a Shelbyville trailer park.

Police responded to the trailer park and shortly found the man, Carmelo Morales, in a trailer. He was ordered out at gunpoint and arrested. Police say he smelled of alcohol and blew a .06%.

Police began to talk to witnesses and determined that Morales had been running around with a machete, yelling in Spanish that he was going to cut someone. Witnesses say he continued to yell and hit a vehicle with the machete. Witnesses say Morales then threatened to beat them up. Morales’ wife eventually came and told him to come inside. Witnesses say his wife then threw the machete between two trailers and they went inside.

Police located a machete fitting the description in the area that witnesses told them it was thrown.

Morales was taken to the Shelby County Jail, where he’s facing charges of intimidation, criminal recklessness, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and public intoxication.
