Man accused of hiding $230,000 of cocaine in shoes

PREBLE COUNTY, Ohio (March 9, 2016) – A Nevada man faces felony drug charges after police in Ohio pulled him over for a traffic violation and later found cocaine hidden in shoes.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Essex Jamal Clark, 47, was stopped for following too closely on I-70 eastbound in Preble County on March 2. His rental van was registered to California. A drug-sniffing dog was called to the scene, and a search revealed a small bag of cocaine in the vehicle.

After further investigation, police found modified shoes containing six packages of cocaine worth more than $230,000. Clark was taken to the Preble County Jail and charged with possession and trafficking in cocaine as well as possession of criminal tools.

Clark was also cited for following too closely.
