(April 4, 2016) – The Academy of Country Music Awards took a moment to honor late country singer and Indiana native Joey Feek during Sunday night’s award ceremony.

Martina McBride and Darius Rucker took the stage for the stirring moment at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. They showed a video montage of the late singer and her husband, Rory. Joey Feek died in March after a battle with cancer. She and her husband chronicled their journey together online.

“Joey was more than a wonderful singer and an ACM winning artist along with her husband, Rory. She was a beloved mom, daughter, family member and friend,” McBride said.

“Of all of the different ways we could honor Joey, what would mean the most to Joey and her family is just for one more time, for all of her fans and all of us who love her to give her a big round of applause,” Rucker said.

The crowd responded in a big way with a standing ovation.
