BLOOMINGTON, Ind.– Police arrested an Indiana University student after he allegedly hit a skunk several times with a shovel, killing it.

Andrew Baldini was arrested Friday on a charge of animal cruelty.

Police say he beat a skunk to death with a shovel while at a fraternity house near the 1200 block of East 3rd Street. Fraternity members said the house has been having trouble with skunks around the property.

Some of the members were out on their basketball court when a skunk walked across the court. Baldini picked up a shovel and hit it. The animal was injured and began to limp away. Police say that’s when Baldini struck it several more times and eventually killed it.
