Bloomington Police investigate armed robbery report that occurred near IU campus

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana University’s Bloomington campus was put on alert early Friday morning after an armed robbery was reported near campus.

The university’s social media accounts say an armed man involved in a robbery was last seen near Kilroy’s on Kirkwood Avenue heading towards campus.

The robbery victim reported the crime to IU Police just after 4:30 a.m. The victim reported the armed robbery occurred in an alley in the 100 block of S. Dunn Street. He said suspect approached him and after a brief conversation, the victim said that man pushed him to the ground and placed a metal object against the back of his head. The victim told officers he did not see what the object way, but he believed it was a firearm.

The suspect stole cash and a cell phone from the victim, before fleeing the area. The victim suffered minor injuries.

The suspect was described to be a black male in his early twenties and was wearing jeans and a dark colored t-shirt.

University police searched the area but did not locate the suspect.
