DELAWARE COUNTY, Ind. (Nov. 5, 2015) — A large scale police operation is underway near Muncie.

Police Chief Steve Stewart said the Muncie Police Department is the lead agency involved. According to Stewart, officers were serving warrants on two locations, although he couldn’t comment on what the warrants were for because they were sealed by a court order.

No arrests have been made.

Stewart said officers were serving the warrants at homes in nearby Wheeling and Royerton, which are just outside Muncie city limits. The searches at both locations are related, Stewart said. He added, the warrants are party of a lengthy investigation.

The warrant being served in Wheeling focuses on a large compound at 18710 Wheeling Rd. Stewart noted there are several residential buildings on the property and said the search could take several days. A satellite image shows a small lake, barn, and other structures on the property.

The Delaware County Sheriff’s Department, FBI, and multiple K9 units were on scene assisting in the search warrants. Stewart could not comment on if anything had been found in the search that has lasted more than 12 hours Thursday.

An excavator was seen digging through what looked like a shed on the property. Stewart also noted the investigation is nowhere near complete.

“We’ll be here until we’re done, obviously to serve the search warrants, so I don’t really know what the time frame will be on that,” he said.
