INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD is investigating after a male who was reportedly shot on the northeast side of Indianapolis was found deceased in Lawrence.

Police responded to the 4100 block of Mt. Vernon Court (near 42nd Street) for a report of a person shot around 4:30 a.m. When IMPD arrived, they learned the victim was actually at a Speedway gas station on Pendleton Pike in Lawrence.

The victim was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival to the hospital.

According to police, a good Samaritan brought the male to the gas station after he was shot.

“IMPD would like to thank that community member who took it upon themselves to assist their victim in a time of need. This is just another example of our community coming together, for one another, assisting one another in their time of need, and we want to say thank you to that community member,” said IMPD’s Samone Burris.

Police did not have any information on a suspect but said there is not believed to be a threat to the community.
