LAFAYETTE, Ind. (April 1, 2016) – A Lebanon man pleaded to guilty to charges after an 18-month-old girl suffered life-threatening head injuries in his care in 2013.
Timothy Grissom, 23, pleaded guilty to information of battery on a child resulting in serious bodily injury and information of possession of marijuana. All other charges were dropped, as a result of a plea deal.
According to court documents, the child suffered a skull fracture, brain hemorrhage and other injuries while Grissom watched her on Deceber 10, 2013. Grissom originally told doctors that she fell off of a sofa. He later told investigators she hit her head while he was giving her a bath in the sink and then fell on the floor.
According to court documents, Grissom admitted he’d smoked marijuana before taking care of the girl. A doctor told investigators the girl would “never fully recover from her injuries,” court documents said.
Grissom’s sentencing will be April 27 at 2 p.m.
