INDIANAPOLIS — For the second time in just over seven months, officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department have arrested an Indianapolis on several felony drug and gun charges.

Police first voiced their frustration about this case in January when they raided a home on Lasalle. Officials said 39-year-old Glenn Taylor was first arrested on Jan. 26 on the near east side of Indianapolis.

Inside the home, police claim they recovered a stolen handgun as well as cocaine, meth and heroin. Two men, 44-year-old Joseph Scott and Taylor, were taken to jail at that time.

“Officers are tired of arresting the same people over and over again,” said Indy FOP President Rick Snyder in January.

Snyder spoke about the case in January because court records showed Scott’s arrest took place just 23 days after he was released from jail on GPS monitoring for separate drug charges.

“How in the heck does this keep happening?” said Snyder.

When police searched the home, officials said in a news release from IMPD that the following items were located:

• A stolen handgun;
• $8,092 in cash, which was held at the time for forfeiture;
• 50 grams of suspected cocaine and methamphetamine.

After his second arrest in January, Scott was given a $200,000 bond and has remained in jail ever since.

At the same time, Taylor was given an $80,000 bond and was released, until two weeks ago when police raided his home on Keystone.

Inside police again allegedly found cocaine, heroin, fentanyl and multiple handguns.  That resulted in Taylor also being arrested a second time.

Court records show that detectives located the following items during the September search:

• 35g fentanyl;
• 455g of marijuana;
• Two handguns;
• $9,471, which was held at the time for forfeiture;
• Ammunition and gun magazines;
• Items use for manufacturing narcotics;
• Three vehicles.

In relation to the September incident, Taylor was once again arrested and charged with:

• One count of dealing in cocaine, an amount of 10 or more grams, a Level 2 felony;
• Two counts of dealing in a narcotic drug, an amount of 10 or more grams, a Level 2 felony;
• One count of possession of 28 or more grams of cocaine, a Level 3 felony;
• Two counts of possession of 28 or more grams of a narcotic drug, a Level 3 felony;
• One count of unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, a Level 4 felony;
• One count of dealing in marijuana when the defendant has a prior conviction for drug dealing, a Level 5 felony;
• One count of possession of marijuana when the defendant has a prior drug offense conviction, a Level 6 felony.

“It’s individuals like this where something doesn’t click when they’re arrested the first, second or third time.  They’re coming back out and doing the same offenses,” said IMPD east district commander Richard Riddle.

Regardless of the repeat arrests, commander Riddle promises IMPD will continue to target known offenders, to try and get illegal guns and drugs off the streets.

“We’re doing what we need to be doing targeting people that are known crime contributors and getting them into jail and then we hope the criminal justice system in Marion County does their part,” said Riddle.

Taylor is now being held without bond pending trial.
