INDIANAPOLIS — A shooting has left two people dead and a third injured on Indy’s north side.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting occurred around 5:40 p.m. at the Meridian Lakes Apartments complex near W. 73rd Street and Hoover Road, only a few blocks away from Meridian Hills Country Club.

Police said all three of the individuals involved in the shooting were adult men. One of the men was reportedly found dead outside the apartments while the other two drove themselves to the hospital.

One of the men ended up dying at the hospital, police said, while the third remains in stable condition.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office identified the two men who died as 29-year-old Damion Cornelius and 28-year-old Aushette Thompson.

According to police, the shooting was an isolated incident stemming from a “family disturbance.” Police said it is unclear at this time, however, how all the men are related.

No further information has been released at this time as the investigation is still active and ongoing.
