INDIANAPOLIS — A deadly stabbing investigation is underway on Indy’s east side.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, police were called to a liquor store in the 4200 block of E. New York Street at approximately 12:20 p.m. on a stabbing report. Police said officers arrived and found a man outside the liquor store with injuries consistent with a stab wound.

The man was originally transported in critical condition to an area hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 31-year-old Terryus Thompson.

Investigators stated there is not believed to be any immediate threat to the area. Investigators also do not believe the stabbing was a random act, police said.
