INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (December 2, 2015) – Indy Snow Force was activated Wednesday morning as a wintry mix of rain and snow showers hit the metro area.

Thirty-eight Snow Force drivers will be activated until 11:00 p.m. this evening. Snow Force will have 14 drivers in the overnight hours that will focus on bridges and overpasses. Crews are ready to treat icy patches that may arise to ensure roads are as safe as possible given the conditions.

Drivers should use caution on the road and make sure they leave plenty of time to reach their destinations as DPW operators run their routes. DPW will be monitoring city and county roadways and resources very closely as temperatures fluctuate.

Drivers are encouraged to take it slow, leave extra time to arrive at destinations, and respect plow trucks by giving them plenty of room to work. Indy residents can sign up for email updates at www.indy.gov/snow and use the new Indy Snow Force Viewer to help plan their commutes.
