INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (March 14, 2016) – Police are searching for Jerry Glover for attempted murder of an IFD firefighter with a rifle.

Police say Glover, 37, is about five feet nine inches tall, weighs 175 pounds, and he was last seen wearing a light gray shirt, gray and white basketball shorts, black socks, and brown slippers. He was armed with a Century Arms .223 rifle.

According to IFD spokesperson Rita Reith, firefighter Michael “Kevin” Gill, 49, stopped by the 2200 block of East 38th Street around 10 a.m. to pick up some food at an acquaintance’s house. As he was walking back out to his car, police say Glover appeared and started shooting.

Gill was shot in the torso, but he was able to run across the street to the Muhammad Mosque No. 74 for help. People inside of the mosque assisted Gill and called 911.

“I heard a loud noise…boom, boom, boom. I think there were three shots,” says a neighbor.

After the shooting, police say Glover fled the scene in a 1993-1996 Chevy Caprice Classic four-door with approximately 22” aluminum rims and dark tinted windows.

Gill was transported to Eskenazi Hospital where he remains in good condition. His injuries were non-life threatening. Gill is a 16-year veteran of IFD.

“Many times it is the result of a robbery or carjacking of some sort but I do not have those indications yet,” says IMPD detective Kevin Lauerman.

If you have any information on Glover’s whereabouts, please call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-TIPS. Information shared via Crime Stoppers is considered anonymous.
