Original story:

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (May 12,2015) — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) arrested a man in connection with a January murder.

Randall Beckham was taken into custody in connection with the murder of of Johnny Hicks Jr. Hicks’ body was found at his Indianapolis home located on the 2900 block of Brookside Avenue. Police reported severe trauma.

“We want everyone to know who this guy is,” said Trena Johnson

Hicks younger sister, Trena Johnson, says Beckham lived near her brother.

“Unfortunately, they did know each other. Randall lived right behind him,” said Johnson.

Hicks’ father hadn’t heard from his son in weeks, so he decided to drop by his house on Jan. 14. He knew something was wrong when Hicks didn’t answer the door.

“That was very unusual for him not to answer the door right away for my dad ” said Johnson.

Investigators believe Hicks was murdered about a week before his body was found.

Johnson says she finds comfort knowing Beckham is behind bars, but she still wants to know why her brother was brutally murdered.

“He stabbed him over 100 times with an ice pick and stole his bank card and took all of his money and that’s all we know,” said Johnson.

While Beckham isn’t talking to investigators, Johnson wants to make something very clear to the man who allegedly took her brother’s life.

“Randall, just admit it. You know John was good to you and he was friends with you and gave you money when you needed it,” said Johnson.

Beckham is being held without bond as the Marion County prosecutor’s office investigates the case. Formal murder charges are expected in the coming days.
