INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Metropolitan police responded Wednesday night to a shooting that left one person dead and another critically injured on the northeast side.
IMPD officers were dispatched around 8:50 p.m. to the 5800 block of E. 40 Street after receiving reports that a person had been shot.
Officers arrived on the scene and found two people–a juvenile male and an adult male–suffering from gunshot wounds. IMPD reported around 9:02 p.m. that one victim was in critical condition and the other was listed as stable.
The man who was previously in critical condition died, IMPD confirmed shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday. The juvenile victim’s status was updated from stable to “very critical condition.”
The deceased victim later been identified as 19-year-old Fredrick Jamar Johnson III.
The shooting remains under investigation.
