INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The extreme heat advisory has officials in Indianapolis and Marion County making sure residents know how and where to beat the heat this weekend.

Indy Parks is offering free pool access to all of its pools on Saturday. You can also get into the weight rooms and to the gyms free of charge, plus they are waiving some of the entry fees to Eagle Creek and Garfield Park.

Family Centers will be available as cooling stations during park hours. Healthcare providers say hydrate early and often.

In some cases, it only takes a few hours to go from dehydration to heat stroke which is a serious medical emergency. Officials say to stay hydrated, wear loose clothing and try to stay out of the sun during the hottest parts of the day.

The Salvation Army will have cooling centers open on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m.  to 7 p.m. at the following locations:

Center City

234 East Michigan

Eagle Creek

4400 N. High School Road

Fountain Square

1337 Shelby Street
