FRANKLIN, Ind. – A very special Franklin teen continues to defy all odds!
Mickey Deputy is only 19, but she’s already overcome so many things in her young life. Mickey was born with Down syndrome and a heart defect for which she’s had to undergo multiple surgeries.
When Mickey was 7, she was diagnosed with leukemia, and after several intense treatments, she beat it! And just last month, Mickey received the Sagamore of the Wabash from Governor Mike Pence.
Now Mickey has another accomplishment to add to her long list – getting accepted to college!
Mickey received her acceptance letter to Franklin College yesterday and she is officially a Grizzly. Mickey’s mother recorded her reaction to the good news!
Mickey told CBS4Indy that she’s very excited to make new friends in college. “I am most excited to get to experience the college life because I never thought I would ever be able to!” said Mickey.
