GREENE COUNTY, Ind. (October 6, 2015) – A Greene County man faces ten felony charges after he was involved in illegal sexual activity with a teen girl for more than two years.
According to the Herald Times, Matthew Jefferson Perry, 32, of Linton, has been charged with two counts of child molesting, three counts of sexual misconduct with a minor, and five counts of dissemination of matter harmful to minors.
Authorities say Perry began illegal relations with the girl in October 2012 when she was 13-years-old. And the illegal activity continued through January 2015. The girl was 15-years-old at that time.
The girl’s mother contacted the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office and Department of Child Services started their investigation in March. The girl’s mother told authorities that Perry was a family friend who babysat the girl when she was 13.
According to the Herald Times, police discovered more than 24,000 text messages between the girl and Perry and 696 phone calls between the pair.
Investigators also discovered that Perry sent the girl inappropriate pictures of himself on five different occasions.
Perry has denied all allegations against him.
He was booked into the Greene County Jail on Friday, and his bond is set at $145,000.
