SPEEDWAY, Ind. (May 21, 2015)– Last year was the first time in recent history that race fans were able to spend the night on the grounds of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

After a major success last year, dozens of people signed up to join in on the “glamping” experience. IMS says glamping offers the experience of camping, but with all the amenities of a hotel. Glampers stay within the infield, just footsteps away from the track.

The costs of the different packages range from $900 to just over $1,000.  Amenities include infield parking, electricity, private showers and private restrooms.  Race fans who are exploring the glamping experience say they do not mind the price.

“Just being here for the atmosphere is amazing. Just hearing the cars all day long is amazing. It is awesome. It makes you really feel like you are a part of the whole racing experience,” says Matt Bentley.

IMS says there were no major problems last year at the camp site.  Speedway security is stationed near the tents throughout the night.  IMS says campers are only allowed on the grounds if they are wearing a wristband.
