It’s almost time to find out if A & B are boys or girls. I’ve put it on record that I think I have two boys in this belly. I had a dream recently and could picture these two adorable (aren’t they always!) baby boys running around. I even named them in the dream! So – that’s my official guess.

TWO BOYS. #twinning

Of course – like most expectant moms I looked online to try and figure out who’s growing inside my bump.

The Chinese Gender Predictor tells me I’m having TWO GIRLS.

Apparently, the Chinese Gender Predictor guesses the baby’s sex based on an ancient Chinese gender chart and the Chinese Lunar Calendar, using your age and when you got pregnant. My mother [HI MOM!] thinks this is the most accurate way to guess. She also reminds me she primarily ate Chinese food while she was pregnant with me –how that is related? I don’t know! HA! :)

I haven’t done the ring on the string gender prediction game, yet. I think this one HAS to be influenced by a nice breeze :)

And, I will never do the Drano test. Peeing in a cup and then mixing it with Drano sounds like a messy, gross disaster!

I do think untitled-6212-Editthere may be something to the way women carry their baby.  They (the ancient gods, apparently) say if your belly is high and wide, it’s a girl. If your belly is low and sticking straight out, it’s a boy. That’s me – my belly is OUT! I’ll admit I try to hide it a bit on TV since I worry it can be distracting! But … maybe I am right … I’ve got two BOYS in here!

Dr. Mary Pease with IU Health tells me the most popular gender prediction game she hears about is related to the baby’s heartbeat.

“The one that we hear the most is the heart rate. A normal heart rate is between 110 and 160 beats per minute. So, if the heart rate is on the lower end for the fetus, then they say it`s a boy.  If it`s on the higher end, then they say it`s a girl,” explained Dr. Pease.

Yet, Dr. Pease says the ONLY way to really find out if you’re having a boy or girl is through your doctor. There is a new genetic screening test that is highly accurate and noninvasive.  It simply involves a blood draw from the mommy-to-be. You can do this test as early as 10 weeks to detect for Down syndrome, and you will also find out the sex of your baby. Dr. Pease says about 50 percent of couples choose to do this test.

Many couples find out their baby’s gender at the fetal survey appointment, which is around 20 weeks.  Some expectant moms can find out sooner if your baby is cooperating and a good ultrasonographer takes an ultrasound as early as 16 weeks.

“The ultrasound machines are phenomenal, how clear it is.  The technology is truly advanced.  It looks like a photograph with the clarity,” said Dr. Pease.

I get to find out SOON if it’s Team Blue, Team Pink or Team Both for us!
