FRANKFORT, Ind. — The Frankfort Police Department (FPD) has detained a 13-year-old juvenile for their role in the shooting of another 13-year-old juvenile Tuesday.
Police said around 10:20 a.m. officers and EMS were dispatched to the 300 block of W. Green St. on a report of a male juvenile with a gunshot wound.
FPD said the juvenile ran into a residence near that location with a gunshot wound the lower facial area.
Police determined the incident took place in a residence in the 900 block of N. John St., and a handgun was later found by officers.
The victim was transported by helicopter to Riley Children’s Hospital and was still in surgery as of 4 p.m. Tuesday. Officials said he is expected to survive.
Detectives interviewed two other juveniles who were present at the time of the shooting.
Police said evidence and witness accounts indicate that three juveniles were hanging out together at a residence when one juvenile brought out a handgun.
According to officials, the trigger was pulled by one juvenile and a bullet struck another 13-year-old juvenile in the face.
The juvenile shooter was taken to the Clinton County Courthouse and has been detained pending formal charges from the Clinton County Prosecutor.
