UPDATE: Goldblatt was found guilty after a bench trial in May 2017. He was sentenced to 180 days–all suspended.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Mayor Joe Hogsett’s press secretary has been charged with criminal mischief.

The charge against Dan Goldblatt stems from an incident in which a woman said he kicked her car and then walked away.

The woman, Shavon Wilson, reported the incident to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office in early July.

She said she was going through a yellow light at the intersection of Washington and Pennsylvania streets when Goldblatt crossed in front of her, kicked her car and walked off. Goldblatt was walking into the City-County Building at the time. The woman recorded video of the incident.

The car sustained slight damage, according to a report from the sheriff’s office. Photos from the woman’s Facebook page show Goldblatt left a white mark on the car’s exterior.

A spokeswoman for Mayor Hogsett confirmed that Goldblatt had been placed on administrative leave immediately after the incident. He later resigned.

Editor’s note: This story previously said Goldblatt had been fired. This has been corrected to say he resigned.
