Flood waters prompt rescue of driver in Johnson County

FRANKLIN, Ind. (December 27, 2015)–One person was rescued when their car became stranded in rising waters south of Franklin in Johnson County, Sunday evening.

Around 6:15 p.m., a passerby spotted the stranded car with a person still inside at County Road 250 South and South Stonybrook Lane.

Amity and Franklin fire and rescue crews responded to the scene located west of U.S. 31.

Emergency crews put boats in the water and was able to bring the driver back to dry land in about 10 minutes.

Johnson County Highway crews were asked to put up barricades to close off that stretch of roadway until the water goes back down.

Johnson County Sheriffs Department listed other trouble spots on Sunday; Greensburg Road and County Road 725 East, County Road 250 South – east of Interstate 65, and Jim Black Road and State Road 44.
