Everything you need to know: 2016 IPL 500 Festival Parade

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.-  A huge crowd is expected downtown for the 2016 IPL 500 Festival Parade.

With reserved seating now sold out, where is the best place for you to catch all the action?

The 500 Festival says if you don’t have one the assigned seats, try setting up along Meridian Street somewhere for a good view of all the floats and entertainment.

The parade route starts on Pennsylvania Street, turns onto Washington Street, before eventually heading north on Meridian Street.

Plenty of celebrities including singer Josh Kauffman and Olympian David Boudia will be part of the event.

Organizers say expect everything about this year’s parade to be bigger than ever before.

“We’re going to have the most floats, we’re going to have the most bands, we’re going to have the most balloons that have ever been a part of this and we’re really excited,” said Sabrina List, VP of Marketing and Communication for the 500 Festival.

The parade kicks-off Saturday, May 28, at noon and is expected to last about 90 minutes.

Prepare for heavy traffic after the event and plan ahead because several road closures in and around downtown.
