MADISON COUNTY, Ind. – One suspect was shot and another suspect is still on the loose after an armed robbery at a pharmacy in Elwood, according to Madison County Sheriff Scott Mellinger.

The robbery occurred at Elwood Low Cost Pharmacy at 518 South Anderson Street this morning. Police say two suspects robbed the store and then fled the scene.

During the search, an Elwood officer fired his weapon and shot one of the suspects. The suspect was taken into custody and transferred to an Indianapolis-area hospital. There is no information at this time on the suspect’s condition.

The second suspect is still on the loose.

The robbery and shooting prompted all Elwood schools to go on lockdown for several hours. The lockdown has since been lifted, and dismissal will follow the regular schedule.
