East side home heavily damaged in fire

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (December 20, 2015)–Fire crews were called to a burning home on the city’s east side Sunday evening.

The  home is located in the 6000 block of East 21st Street.  The home’s occupant was away at the time of the fire.

Fire crews got the call shortly after 9 p.m.  When they arrived, heavy smoke was showing from the front door.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control within 15 minutes.  Damage to the single story home is estimated at $20,000.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
