INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — A suspected drunk driver is being listed as the cause of an early morning interstate accident that involved a Indiana State Trooper. early Sunday morning.

Police officials are reporting that the police cruiser was struck in a crash on northbound Interstate 65 approaching 29th/30th Streets early Sunday morning.


The ISP officer was responding to an earlier wreck at the same location just after 3:00 a.m. and according to ISP dispatch, the original accident of a single car was being investigated on the right shoulder of the interstate. According to the investigating officer, another northbound I-65 driver came over onto the shoulder/lane striking the officer’s cruiser from behind.

According to investigating officers, both drivers of the two separate accidents may have been under the influence of alcohol.

Both drivers were taken to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
