KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. (Oct. 26, 2015) – “Trigger” is aptly named, it seems.

According to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, the dog managed to shoot his owner during a hunting trip over the weekend at Tri-County Fish and Wildlife Area in North Webster.

Conservation officers said Allie Carter, 25, Avila, was getting ready to reposition herself around 10 a.m. Saturday and laid her shotgun down at her feet with the safety off. As she was getting up, her dog, Trigger, managed to depress the trigger.

The shotgun went off, shooting Carter in the foot at close range. The woman suffered injuries to her left foot and toes. She was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital before being transferred to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.
