UPDATE: Indiana Conservation Officers report the missing canoeists that went missing on the White River have been found safe. Around 9 p.m. Sunday, an Indiana State Trooper located the pair walking on private property near their original pick up point.
WAVERLY, Ind. (July 12, 2015)–Indiana Conservation Officers are asking the public’s help in locating two people who may missing along White River in Morgan County.
Initial reports indicate 33-year-old Lindsey Smith and her boyfriend, “Tony”, left the Henderson Ford Public Access Ramp Saturday around 2 p.m. Their plan was to navigate the river and camp out overnight. Their planned pick up time was 2 p.m. Sunday near the IPL Dam in Morgan County, but never arrived.
Smith is described as a white female with red hair and was last seen wearing a green bikini top and blue jean shorts.
“Tony” is a white male in his early 30’s wearing blue jean shorts and an unknown colored T-shirt.
Both left in a camouflaged canoe heading south on White River.
Conservation officers and Indiana State Police have been searching the swollen river using airboats and helicopter.
