UIndy anthropologists to assist in investigation after body found in Delaware County farm field

Update (November 30, 2016) — On Wednesday, investigators said they found underwear and shorts near the body, but nothing else. Multiple bones, including the person’s pelvis, were reportedly missing. Anthropologists and deputies are expected to continuing searching the field Thursday.

Update (November 29, 2016) — Anthropologists from UIndy arrived in Delaware County at 11 a.m. on Tuesday.

DELAWARE COUNTY, Ind. – A body was found in a Delaware County farm field on Monday.

The sheriff’s office confirms the body was found next to railroad tracks near County Roads 700 West and 300 South.

The body is badly decomposed, and the coroner’s office cannot release any details on the identity or gender at this time.

It is unknown of foul play is suspected.

The University of Indianapolis anthropology team is expected to go to the scene around 11 a.m. Tuesday to assist in the investigation.
