INDIANAPOLIS — A woman was killed and six other people — including two children — were taken to the hospital after a multi-vehicle crash Monday on the southwest side of Indianapolis.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the crash occurred in the 7100 block of Kentucky Avenue Monday afternoon.

The Decatur Township Fire Department said several vehicles were involved, including a semi that caught fire. IMPD noted that an ambulance was involved in the crash.

The woman killed was trapped in one of the vehicles and pronounced dead at the scene, according to DTFD. The fire department added that one person hospitalized was in “serious condition,” and the five other patients were “stable.” Police stated that the two children suffered minor injuries.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area of Kentucky Avenue and Camby Road as it will be closed for several hours as IMPD conducts its investigation.
