INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Multiple law enforcement agencies conducted a sweep on the east side of Indianapolis late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning.

The massive sweep started around 10 p.m. Tuesday and included at least a dozen locations. Indianapolis Metropolitan police, Indiana State Police, the Marion County Sheriff’s Department and Lawrence police conducted the operation.

Many drivers were placed in handcuffs and some were put in the back of police cars. Officers searched several vehicles and removed items.

The sweep focused on an area running from 21st Street to 46th Street and Franklin Road to German Church Road.

Law enforcement officials haven’t disclosed the reason behind the sweep.
