One killed in shooting on east side of Indianapolis

UPDATE (April 2, 2018)– The coroner identified the victim as Juanti Jackson, 37. His death was ruled a homicide.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — One person is dead following a Sunday evening shooting on the east side.

Police were called to the 3500 block of North Hawthorne Lane at about 5:20 p.m. on report of shots fired.  That is a few blocks away from East 34th Street and Emerson Avenue.  When IMPD arrived on the scene, they found a male with a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

At this point, police have no information about a possible suspect or motive in the shooting.
