INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department says a teenager was shot and killed on the city’s east side.
Around 3 p.m. Sunday, police say they were called to the 3400 block of Franklin Road for a person shot.
When they arrived, officers say they found a 17-year-old unresponsive male with a gunshot wound along the road. IEMS pronounced him dead on the scene.
Detectives later arrived to gather information from witnesses. They were able to confirm that the victim and a friend were walking down the street when a vehicle drove up to them and stopped. A person allegedly stepped out of the vehicle and fired a gun, which struck and killed the 17-year-old.
This is an ongoing investigation.
