ANDERSON, Ind. – Anderson police are investigating a fatal shooting.

According to the Anderson Police Department, officers arrived in the 1400 block of Menifee Street in response to reports of shots fired.

Upon arrival, officers were directed to another location and found a man dead. Investigators identified the deceased as 35-year-old Jeremy Boyd.
Police are investigating the shooting and said it may be drug related.
“Today it was somebody else’s son, somebody else’s father, somebody else’s brother. Tomorrow it can be your father, your brother, your sister,” Pastor Anthony Harris said.

Harris say faith leaders have tried to get an anti-gun violence group off the ground in the past to help prevent shootings like Boyd’s. He added that unfortunately they didn’t follow through. Now he says its times to finish what they started so they can help make this shooting the last shooting.

“We need a solution to this, we need to stop hurting one another,” he said.
Harris says the shooting has reignited the passion to start up an anti-violence group. He says plans for that group will begin immediately.
