ELKHART, Ind. (March 30, 2016) – A mother from Goshen was arrested after she allegedly kicked her 6-year-old son out of her car and left him on the side road while she was drunk

Police responded to a report of a lost child in the 800 block Prairie Street Tuesday morning around 7:50 a.m.

Veronica Trevino, 31, told officers she was driving to Elkhart and got upset at her 6-year-old son. So she said she stopped her car and told the boy to get out.

The mother told officers that her plan was to circle around the block and retrieve him, but she apparently got lost and couldn’t find him.

Officers eventually found the boy, and Trevino was found to be drunk. Officers arrested Trevino for public intoxication.

The case remains under investigation by the Elkhart Police Department and Department of Child Services.
