JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind.—The Indiana Department of Transportation plans to switch southbound Interstate 65 traffic between mile markers 88.5 and 94.0 in Johnson County to right and center lanes during overnight hours this Thursday (DECEMBER 1), weather permitting.

The third southbound I-65 lane should open to motorists approximately ten days later—opening all southbound lanes in advance of a winter construction hiatus.

INDOT officials say all three lanes of northbound I-65 are tentatively scheduled to be open to the motoring public during the second week of December.

Paving operations will resume in May-June of 2017 to complete installation of the surface lift of steel slag asphalt in the south section of the project (between Whiteland Road and State Road 44). Ramps at Main Street/Greenwood, Whiteland Road and S.R. 44/Franklin will also be milled and resurfaced in the spring which will complete the state’s $84 million Major Moves 2020 added-lanes project on I-65 with full-depth pavement replacement between Greenwood and Franklin.
