INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Construction caused a six mile backup on eastbound I-465 on the city’s southwest side Saturday.
Drivers were forced to use only a few lanes after crews closed two of them.
Indiana State Police say the backup stretched from the State Road 37/Harding Street exit back to the Sam Jones Expressway.
Police urged motorists not to disregard signage and barriers to access lanes under construction, but many ignored those calls. Some vehicles also reportedly overheated in the back-up.
Police are encouraging motorists to check INDOT’s interactive map for traffic updates before hitting the road.
