COLUMBUS, Ind. (March 25, 2016) – A teenager died and several people were hurt after a multi-vehicle crash in Columbus Thursday night.

According to Indiana State Police, the three-vehicle crash happened at the intersection of Marr Road and County Road 550 North in Bartholomew County around 11:50 p.m. The investigation showed a 2001 Pontiac car driven by Keegan L. Phillips, 17, Columbus, was going east on County Road 550 North and stopped at the stop sign at the intersection for Marr Road.

Phillips then pulled in front of a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer that was going southbound on Marr Road; the collision pushed the Blazer into the path of a 2004 Toyota Rav4 heading northbound.

Phillips died from injuries he suffered in the crash. Three passengers in his vehicle–Blake Sinclair, 18; Rachel Turner, 18; and Tierra Miller, 19—suffered serious injuries and were taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. State police described Miller’s injuries as life-threatening.

The driver of the Blazer, Sheila I. Lee, 47, Columbus, was treated for minor injuries at Columbus Regional Hospital, as was the driver of the Rav4, Amy M. Fetter, 44, Columbus.

State police were still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
