INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (January 3, 2015) — Tens of thousands of fans will be downtown Sunday for the big playoff game against the Bengals, that includes Challenger, the bald eagle.
He made an appearance at last year’s playoff game against the Chiefs.
The eagle was rescued at a young age and was “human-socialized” so he can’t be released back into the wild.
A non-profit group from Dollywood, Tennessee cares for him.
Challenger, who is named in honor of the Space Shuttle crew, is being used to raise awareness about saving America’s eagles, which are a protected species.
