PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind. – A cat and a litter of her kittens were illegally dropped off outside the Humane Society of Putnam County with no food, water or protection from the elements Friday morning.

The organization’s kennel manager says she was shocked to find the feline family.

Officials say the cats are now recovering from the unnecessary trauma they experienced.

The Human Society wants the people of Putnam County to know that neglect and abandonment of an animal is a crime in Indiana, and they should never be afraid or embarrassed to call them at 765-653-1943.

The cat and its kittens are now in need of foster homes.
