CARMEL, Ind. – Two people have died following a Monday morning crash in Carmel.

Police officers were called to the single-vehicle crash near the intersection of 96th Street and Haverstick Road around 11:20 a.m.

Police say it appeared that the four-door Acura involved in the crash was going eastbound on 96th Street when the driver, Robert W. Ingles, 68, overcorrected and drove off the road into some trees.

Both Ingles and his passenger, Thomas M. Billingsly, 71, were transported to St. Vincent Indianapolis Hospital. Billingsly was pronounced dead there as a result of his injuries. Ingles was in critical condition Monday afternoon but eventually died from his injuries, police said Wednesday.

A portion of 96th Street between Haverstick Road and Westfield Blvd was temporarily closed during the investigation.

If you have information or were a witness to this crash, you’re asked to contact the Carmel Police Department at 317-571-2500.
