INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (October 29, 2015) — As police investigate recent attacks on the Monon Trail, owners at one local running business want make sure you know the best safety techniques.

Athletic Annex will host a free “Run Safer” clinic on Thursday evening (October 29th) at 7 p.m. inside their store at 1411 W. 86th Street.

Organizers have invited two-time Olympic distance runner and black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jiysu Todd Williams to lead the class. He’ll demonstrate techniques for runners and walkers to help them escape from an attacker’s grip or buy time if they’re in trouble.

Just a couple weeks ago, extra police patrols were called to the Monon Trail after two robbery incidents happened in in broad-daylight. Police are still investigating.

Co-owner of Athletic Annex, Bob Kennedy, says it’s always a good idea to run with a partner or a group, which is part of the reason they offer community running programs. For more, click here.
