BOONE COUNTY, Ind. – Authorities are investigating a Boone County house fire that killed a woman in her mid-sixties Tuesday night.

First responders were called to the scene in the 400 block of N US 421 in Zionsville shortly before 8 p.m.

As units responded, crews were advised that there could be someone inside the home, Zionsville police say. They arrived within five minutes and started an aggressive interior attack to locate and confine the fire.

Police say a crew from the Whitestown Fire Department located the female victim. They were able to get her outside, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

A neighbor who reportedly entered the home before crews got there was treated and released at the scene. No firefighters were injured in the blaze.

The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of family members. At this time, the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
