BROWNSBURG, Ind. — One juvenile is dead, another juvenile is injured and a third individual is also injured after a multi-vehicle crash in Brownsburg, according to the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office.

At 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, responders were called to State Road 267 and County Road 1000 North in reference to a crash.

A preliminary investigation indicates a Mercury mini van was traveling eastbound on County Road 1000 North. Witnesses told authorities the van did not stop at a stop sign and continued through the intersection, where it struck a northbound Chevrolet pickup truck. After the impact, the two vehicles continued moving eastward through the intersection, and the van then made contact with a third vehicle, a Pontiac passenger car, according to the HCSO.

The van contained two occupants, both of whom where juveniles, according to officials. Both were taken to an Indianapolis hospital, where the passenger, Josephine Cranfill, 16, of Brownsburg, later died from her injuries.

The pick up truck had one occupant at the time of the crash, who was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Two people were in the Pontiac during the crash, but neither were taken to the hospital for injuries, according to authorities.

HCSO Crash reconstructionists are still investigating at this time.

The Brownsburg Fire Department described the area that the crash occurred as a “known dangerous intersection, to which we are often called for serious collisions.”
