INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.  – A car crash claims three lives on Indy’s northeast side.  The tragic accident took place before noon near Shadeland and Fall Creek Road.

The victim’s car slid off the road and into the woods.   For several hours police shut down Fall Creek Road after a car with 3 people inside lost control and crossed the center line before being hit by an oncoming box truck.

All three victims inside the car died on scene and for now police think the case is simply a tragic accident.

“At this point in time they don’t think alcohol is involved.   The box truck driver is cooperating with law enforcement and is going for a blood draw which is standard for incidents like this,” said Genae Cook with IMPD.

The names of the three victims killed in the car have not been released.  While police can’t say for sure why the driver lost control, it’s possible the rain and road conditions played a role.

“The weather could have been a factor.  The pavement is wet and slippery and this is a wooded area,” said Cook.

The driver of the box truck was not injured.  He also was not arrested on scene.  Ultimately, it’ll be up to the prosecutor’s office to decide if any criminal charges should be filed.
