FOUNTAIN CITY, Ind. (March 25, 2016) – Two people died following a shooting in Wayne County Friday morning.
A man called a relative around 7 a.m. to say he killed someone inside the home and was going to kill himself. This happened in the 300 block of North Walnut Street, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
SWAT officers surrounded the area and tried to contact anyone inside the residence. However, they were unable to get a response. A tactical team entered the home around 9:30 a.m., and found a man and woman dead inside.
Northeastern Schools were placed on lockdown during the incident. The lockdown has since been lifted. U.S. 27 was also closed to traffic during the standoff. Names of the deceased have not yet been released.
