TERRE HAUTE, Ind.– Indiana State Police say a 13-year-old runaway girl from Easton, Pennsylvania was found at a bus station in Terre Haute.

The bus station is located near 9th Street and Cherry Street. She was reportedly on a commercial bus heading to California.

The bus had a scheduled stop at the Terre Haute bus station around 3:30 p.m. Police found the girl, who was not injured and traveling alone.

She was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Vigo County Juvenile Center, where Pennsylvania State Police troopers will pick her up and take her back to her Pennsylvania home.

Police say the girl was having family issues and during her difficulties, met another person online that identified themselves as a 15-year-old girl. The friendship evolved into the Pennsylvania teen attempting to travel to the Los Angeles area to establish residence with the person.

State police say parents should remind their children about the dangers of online communications with strangers.
